$25.00 – $45.00Katie Harper is Here for YOU!
Once you get your first embroidery machine, you make want to take off running, but get a firm grasp on how to make that project you are going to tackle look great. Don’t let yourself get frustrated with puckering, shredded thread and designs that don’t stitch well on the fabric you have chosen.
Katie will take you through the basics on different threads and why so many? What stabilizer do I use when and why! Different needles and the correct ones for your job. Hooping your fabric for best results. What to look for when buying designs online, how to unzip the file to use, organizing in your computer to find it and sending it to your machine. A complete list of what you need to bring will be sent upon registration.
Katie Harper started sewing at age 10, dressing her Barbie doll. That led to sewing for herself and college friends. During the 70’s she learned the Stretch and Sew method for working with knits. In the 90’s when home embroidery machines became available she got hooked on embroidery. Her training has included attending three Martha Pullen Schools in Huntsville, learning heirloom and embroidery techniques, and Jenny Beyer’s School of Quilting, as well as many classes at the local Sewing and Quilting Expos. All this while working full time in the Computer Software industry. She was very active in the ASG embroidery group Happy Hoopers. Katie worked for Discover Sewing inside the JoAnn’s in Alpharetta during the last year it was open.
