In this class you will learn to make a “Classic Tailored Shirt”, a “must have” for every wardrobe! This can be a garment for a child, a man, or a woman. It is a truly classic garment with those tailored details needed to take shirts and tops to the next level.*
You will learn to construct a shirt with a separate collar and collar band, sleeves with plackets and cuffs, a lined shoulder yoke (optional), and darts (optional). You will also learn proper stitching of pockets, as well as how to make flat felled seams. Your shirt will be as beautiful
on the inside as outside including shirt-tail hems, top stitching or edge stitching, and buttonhole placement.
*Note: This class is intended for the advanced beginner or intermediate sewer. Familiarity with your sewing machine is a must. Additional information will be provided after you register. Even though Pam has expertise in fitting, this class is not a fitting class. Rather it is a techniques class. If you need help with fit, consider contacting Pam for a special fitting class.
COST = $70 ($80 non-members), $80/($90) after Jan 15.
Registration fee is NON- REFUNDABLE unless there is a waiting list. Lunch is included.
Suggested Fabrics:
100% cotton broadcloth, cotton shirting, quilting cottons, batiste. 100% Linen- medium or light weight. 100% silk shantung or dupioni (if your skill level can handle it).
