After September 3rd\, refund may be available if there is a substitute student. Is your serger still in the box or gathering dust in a corner? A serger can really enhance your sewing by sewing and finishing seams in one pass and adding professional-looking edges on fabrics. But they can be a little intimidating. This class will cover basic serging techniques to get you started on your machine. Learn the basic techniques for serging: 4 thread seamsFinishing 4 thread seamsSwitching to 3 thread modesEdge stitching to finish seams sewn on a conventional machineRolled hemsRounding an outside curveSerging an outside cornerIf you cannot thread your machine from scratch\, we will contact you to set a time to show you before this class. A fabric kit will be provided. You will need to bring: Serger with plug and foot pedalManual for the serger4 cones of serger thread in different colorsExtra needles for sergerScrewdriver for changing needlestweezersscissors3 ring binder – you will be getting plastic sleeves to hold stitching samplesPaper\, pen and pencilTeacher: Rita Mantel. Longtime ASG member and current treasurer\, Rita owned a sewing machine store for many years and is well-versed in sergers. She has worked with a wide variety of them over the years.
