After September 3rd\, refund may be available if there is a substitute student. \nIs your serger still in the box or gathering dust in a corner? A serger can really enhance your sewing by sewing and finishing seams in one pass and adding professional-looking edges on fabrics. But they can be a little intimidating. This class will cover basic serging techniques to get you started on your machine. Learn the basic techniques for serging: \n\n4 thread seams\nFinishing 4 thread seams\nSwitching to 3 thread modes\nEdge stitching to finish seams sewn on a conventional machine\nRolled hems\nRounding an outside curve\nSerging an outside corner\n\nIf you cannot thread your machine from scratch\, we will contact you to set a time to show you before this class. \nA fabric kit will be provided. You will need to bring: \n\nSerger with plug and foot pedal\nManual for the serger\n4 cones of serger thread in different colors\nExtra needles for serger\nScrewdriver for changing needles\ntweezers\nscissors\n3 ring binder – you will be getting plastic sleeves to hold stitching samples\nPaper\, pen and pencil\n\nTeacher: Rita Mantel. Longtime ASG member and current treasurer\, Rita owned a sewing machine store for many years and is well-versed in sergers. She has worked with a wide variety of them over the years.
