The Atlanta area Ronald McDonald House has made a request for Christmas stockings for the children who will be spending their Christmas receiving life saving medical care. Each child is given a stocking and allowed to fill it with items from the store at the Ronald McDonald House – for many\, this is their only Christmas. ASG member Paula Zachary is generously spearheading the ASG initiative to provide 140 stockings for these children. She has provided patterns and instructions for the Magic Christmas Stocking HERE and on I/O groups. Cheerful Christmas cottons with batting would be a great fabric choice. \nBring your completed stockings to the Annual Meeting on October 29th and receive a FREE raffle ticket for each stocking. \nIf you can’t make it to the annual meeting\, contact Paula Zachary or Susan Marling. SUMMARY:Community Sew-In - Placemats
DESCRIPTION:Let’s Make Some Placemats for Meals on Wheels!\nASG Atlanta has a great opportunity to brighten up the days of elderly citizens in our community. Forsyth County Meals on Wheels has made a request for 200 placemats and 20 adult bibs for their clients. \nMeals on Wheels delivers free meals each week to elderly and at-risk individuals who may not receive nutritious meals otherwise. \nThe placemats made by ASG Atlanta members will be delivered to each client with one of their meal deliveries in late July/early August. We need to have them finished by June 1\, 2022 \nThis is a great opportunity to use up smaller cotton pieces and batting that may be in your stash. \nThe meals are about the size of a “Lean Cuisine” frozen dinner (about 8″ x 9″). Some have been making placemats that measure 10″ x 13″. Larger or slightly smaller placemats are perfect as well. \nThey have also requested 20 adult bibs and you can use your creativity on these to create something pretty and fun \nAll items should be washable.
