Come spend the day with Marsha McClintock, designer/owner of SAF-T-POCKETS.
Marsha has taught at ASG National Conferences, sewing shows across the US and at her annual SAF-T-POCKETS’ Sew Inns. Marsha organizes and guides groups of women on sewing adventures from New York to Hong Kong with her Sew Many Options Tours. She has written in Sew News and taught on Craftsy.
On Friday morning, October 20, 2017, Marsha will present a two hour lecture on new and innovative ways to close your garments, Creative Closures, including cords, loops, cut on flaps and interesting replacements for buttons. She will demonstrate making inseam buttonholes and ideas for using hook & eye or snap tapes seen in ready to wear.
Friday afternoon will be a hands on class to make a reversible tank top. The class will be based on the SAF-T-POCKETS #2004 Twice as Nice pattern.
The patterns will be mailed to students a few weeks before class so sign up early!
Students will be able to try on tanks in various sizes in class or you can pre-fit the pattern before class. The class will teach you about compatible fabrics, seam finishes, a great way to finish neck and armholes with no handwork, the best ways to hem the garments and optional ways to finish the neck and armholes with binding or fold over elastic.
A kit fee is part of the total price for the day and includes the pattern and a CD for additional sleeve to fit the tank top.
Supply List: Sewing machine, preshrunk, light-weight fabrics for Side 1 and Side 2 that are compatible for washing or dry cleaning. You will need matching thread, ¼ yard of 1/2 inch ribbon in matching or complimentary color, plus basic sewing supplies.
